Scan a newsletter
- Paste the newsletter text or upload its file.
- Enter the date the newsletter was sent. That reference date helps ClearWeek put phrases like "next Friday" in the right year, especially around New Year.
- Review the events ClearWeek found before adding them to your calendar.
- Add events to your calendar with an .ics download or the Google Calendar button.
Free scans are processed in memory and never stored on ClearWeek's servers.
Plus
Keep the school layer organized
Enter the beta code in Settings to unlock Plus. You can add up to three children, give each child a color, and save scanned events. Home shows a day-by-day list, and Calendar gives you a month view.
Your Plus data lives in this browser on this device. It does not follow you when you switch browsers or devices unless you download a backup in Settings and restore it there.
Automatic
Let new newsletters flow into your calendar
Sign in with your email. ClearWeek sends a magic link, so there is no password. Once Automatic is active, you get a private forwarding address. Forward a school email yourself or set a one-time rule for that school's sender.
Set your forwarding rule
Gmail: auto-forward the school's emails
1. Gmail Settings, then "Forwarding and POP/IMAP", then "Add a forwarding address". Paste your ClearWeek address and confirm the verification email Gmail sends (it lands in your ClearWeek dashboard as a received email; the code is in the subject line).
2. Then create a filter: search "from:(your school's sender)", choose "Forward it to" your ClearWeek address.
Outlook: auto-forward the school's emails
Settings, then "Mail", then "Rules". Add a rule: condition "From" is your school's sender, action "Forward to" your ClearWeek address.
iCloud Mail: auto-forward the school's emails
On iCloud.com, open Mail settings, then "Rules". Add a rule: "If a message is from" your school's sender, "Forward to" your ClearWeek address.
Only forward the school's sender. ClearWeek never sees your inbox, only the messages you choose to forward.
Subscribe your calendar
Copy your private calendar link from the Automatic tab, then subscribe once in your calendar provider.
Google Calendar
On calendar.google.com: next to "Other calendars" click +, choose "From URL", paste your link. Note: Google refreshes subscribed calendars slowly, sometimes up to a day. The email we send you has instant add links when you cannot wait.
iPhone / Apple Calendar
Settings, then "Calendar", then "Accounts", then "Add Account", then "Other", then "Add Subscribed Calendar". Paste your link. Apple refreshes about every hour (adjustable).
Outlook
In Outlook calendar: "Add calendar", then "Subscribe from web", paste your link. Refreshes every few hours.
Samsung Calendar
Samsung Calendar shows the calendars of the Google account on your phone. Subscribe in Google Calendar (steps above) and it appears in Samsung Calendar automatically.
Date changes: if a later newsletter explicitly moves an event, ClearWeek sends a change alert and updates the event in your ClearWeek calendar feed.
Deleting a forwarded email: Delete removes that email and the events it created; re-forwarding it later processes it fresh.
Questions and answers
Where did my events go?
Two common reasons, neither of which is data loss. First: sessions and Plus data are per-browser and per-address, so a different browser or device shows its own view until you sign in again (seconds, via magic link). Second: if your household has signed in with more than one email address, each email is a separate account with its own events. Check which email you are signed in as on the Automatic tab.
Should my spouse make their own account?
No, and this matters: one account per family works best. Each account keeps its own separate events, so two accounts means a split calendar. Instead, share ONE account's private calendar link (from the Automatic tab) with everyone in the family. Subscribing to the calendar needs no sign-in, so any number of phones can follow the same family calendar.
I subscribed but events have not appeared in Google/Apple yet
Calendar providers refresh subscribed calendars on their own schedule. Google can take up to a day. Events appear in ClearWeek instantly.
What does “Found nothing new to add” mean?
The newsletter's events may already be on your calendar. ClearWeek keeps that email for one day in case something looks wrong, then discards it.
What does ClearWeek keep, and for how long?
Free scans are never stored. Forwarded emails are kept for 7 days, or 1 day when nothing new was found. Child names never leave the device.
Can I add my own events?
Create personal events in your main calendar app. ClearWeek is the school layer that feeds it. A create-your-own-event feature is planned, with no promised date.
What do the Reset buttons on the Automatic tab do?
You will probably never need them. Your forwarding address and calendar link are private and unguessable, and the Reset buttons are like changing a password: each one issues a fresh address or link and the old one stops working right away. Only use them if one leaks, for example if the calendar link was pasted somewhere public. After a reset, update your email forwarding rule to the new address, or re-subscribe every phone with the new link. No events are lost either way.
What time zone does ClearWeek use?
Your school's. Newsletters say things like "picnic at noon" and mean noon at the school, so your account has a school time zone setting (on the Automatic tab, under Subscribe your calendar; new accounts start on US Central). Your calendar app then shows each event correctly wherever you happen to be, even when traveling.
